Guess Logo Design Elements
Guess uses both a symbol and a wordmark for their logo. The Guess symbol is an inverted, red triangle. Each side is an equal length, and the point faces downward. Inside of this triangle, there is a question mark symbol that uses a smaller inverted triangle as the dot at the bottom of the triangle. The Guess wordmark is their brand name written in black, all-capital letters. A classic Roman font with elegant letters and understated serifs is used.
These two elements are sometimes combined to form a single logo, and the brand name is placed at the top of the triangle. However, the company frequently uses these two main elements as different logos. Changes and Evolution
Guess’s original logo was an inverted triangle shape just like the current one, but it was far busier. In the interior of the logo, a question mark was centered at the bottom. Centered at the top was the word “Guess” in large letters and “U.S.A.” in smaller letters. On the left side of the question mark was the word “washed,” and “jeans” was situated on the right side of the question mark. At the bottom of the logo, the numbers “1201” and “1203” showed up.
A bright red shade was used for the question mark and triangle outline in the first Guess logo, and black was used for all the text in the logo. When the company simplified their logo and removed all extra elements, they switched to a simple black on white color scheme. In some cases, the Guess logo is also shown in gold or silver to add a luxurious touch.
The tiny print in the old Guess logo used a sans-serif design, while the brand name was a Times New Roman style font. Guess’ modern logo kept the Roman font and got rid of all the sans-serif fonts.
